Why is it important to foster a sense of ownership or entrepreneurship?
Minority-owned businesses are growing at a much faster rate than that of U.S. businesses overall. At the time of the U.S. Census Bureau 2007 Survey of Business Owners, minority-owned businesses accounted for 21.3 percent of the nation’s businesses, employed 5.8 million persons, and generated $1.0 trillion in receipts. As minority business owners expand their companies, they become increasingly important to their respective local and regional economies and to the national economy.
